I second what Mick said. I’d just add that you want a box welding onto the lock of the container door so that once the padlocks on you can’t get an angle grinder on it. I’d also park your trailers in front of the container doors and put a wheel lock on them so they can’t be moved. Just an added layer of security to stop them getting in the container quickly. 

We had a box ,all they do is leaver the box to break the padlock ,

Really you want a box ressed into the door itself  , but then they come along with a plasma cutter and cut the side of the container .

The loss adjuster came out once and said to me he had a client that buried a shipping container, they were in and out within 5 mins .

All u can do is reasonable precautions as if they want it they take it and thes nothing you can do.

Also the law doesn't work in your favour they just see it as a business theft ...oh well.

As it says were moving into a new yard soon, pretty good size with one container, I had hoped to put another container but the owner wasn't too keen on the idea we are getting this on a 6 year lease with a 3 year clause ..  

 

Was wondering if you guys leave your chippers out side? can't imagine its very good for them,  putting this in and out of the container daily seems like its going to be a bit of a pain ? But at the same time I wanted to keep things as secure as possible.. ?  

Our trailers are going to be out side in the yard, as won't be able to fit everything in one container, but dont think this will be too much of a problem ?..  

 

Wasn't planning on leaving any saws, or personal climbing kit on site, or small tools ..  was mainly for waste, logs, chips , the chippers and such, and I was looking at buying a Spyder lift and a skid steer in the future, and hoped to split and stack logs  ..   

 

any pro tips on keeping things secure Do's and Don'ts from experience ?  its a exciting time for us but wanted to get it right ..    

Keep saws in house or shed,  in personal experience most time  theifs only want whats easy to move on sell on and trying to replace kit is really hard ,because no one carrys much stock in .-unless your fortunate to live next door to the big sellers

Could always clad the container (inside or outside) in sleepers - thick enough that the angle grinders can't cut through... but if they want in they will... back to the beginning, keep the chipper inside so you arn't advertising what else you might have hanging about.
