POR is a rust preventative, paint over rust is it's claim to fame. How can it cure leaks ? It also degrades under UV so has to be top coated with another paint.

por15 tank sealer, is different from por15 rust preventative

this is the stuff , it's inside the fuel tank, not a lot of sunshine in there.B|

Has anyone use POR15 to seal an aluminium fuel tank?

did it work?

I have only used it to seal a steel tank on a LR 101 and it worked  ok. I also had a Kawasaki 305 which had been seals with something that flaked off and blocked the carbs and filter . Was a job to remove it and start again with braze.

As I said epoxy and fibre glass worked for me

I have used POR15 on many fuel tanks over the years, an alloy tank with holes I would clean it out then fill the holes from the outside and then POR15 the inside.

And once you have poured it in and rolled the tank about to coat the inside pour it back in the tin seal it up and keep it for the next tank.

It says on the tin to bin it but I have used part tins several times, it's just real hard, fuel resistant paint you could use it anywhere.

Where is this tank actually leaking? You need to very careful putting sealant in the tank, the manual oil pump plunger and cylinder runs through the fuel tank and into the oil tank, on the bottom is a rubber seal to stop fuel leaking into the oil tank and visa ersatz, you could end up blocking the manual.

I figured the oiler would be  totally sealed from the fuel, are you saying this isn't so?

The only seal is an o ring at the bottom which is why over time they can leak between tanks, to get the manual oiler to the oil tank it has to pass through the fuel tank which is above the oil tank, if the o ring is disturbed your sealant could flow into the oil galleries.
