Thanks, I've brought a few new machines.. Never been able to haggle or get a discount, that was the way it is, really after to be honest 2001, due to the money laundering and terrorism act post 9/11.

I had to read that twice.

Are you seriously trying to use money laundering regulations as an excuse for your poor negotiating skills? 😂

Bobcat wanted 37k for an E27 during Covid. I told them to swivel.

Post Covid it’s 35k. Down to 32.5k after I presented prices of 31k for cat and yanmar and told them that’s where my money was going otherwise. And then got a five year warranty added free too. Free interest over two years.

A member in here (arb digger thread) even more recently bought the same model for a grand cheaper still. Buyers market.

CNH now have a tie up with a Eurocomach. Premium machines, previously brought into the uk in very limited numbers by Robustrack. They look nice. Hopefully one day they will do a 2.7t with a tab boom- they already do a 1.9t with one.

were I in your position ,, I would walk away.

the more intricate and reliant on chips and ecu,s sensors and suchlike, the more problems, more coin, and more  time in the repair shop losing money.

theres a reason a large percentage of older equipment is still around,= less electrics.

You can’t run dinosaur equipment on grabs, tree shears and the like though, which I suspect is what @JLA1990wants to do.

Mecalac are very much a specialist, premium brand. I’m surprised they are having this much trouble, especially with a hitch which is an integral part of them machine- they developed it and have the patent on it.

No poor negotiating skills here, they just refused the cash, due to what I quoted.

If you want something new or specialist I doubt if you'd get a discount on that.

But from what I've seen near me the eurocomach are well built machines, thes still some on the continent in the original colours.

Cat... Been and gone now made in China upto ten tons... I'd rather have a lui gong and know what I'm dealing with.

As far as I know yanmar are still good, but I don't rate the big three now, seems like they're building machines down to a price... Rather than Korean or Chinese machines are built upto spec.. But I'd need to look over a machine and where the local fitter was, and call out fees etc

You don’t negotiate by offering cash! You negotiate by saying ‘unless you sharpen your pencil I will buy this brand instead’. Or you say, ok, but only if you throw in extra warranty and five years free finance.

there is always a deal to be done on new kit. Salesmen have quotas to meet. Interestingly, this also leads on to cheaper secondhand prices more directly than one might imagine. They’ll take the customers old machine in as a trade in and then rather than sell it again with profit (which would not count towards their sales quota) they’ll sell it to a secondhand dealer for negligible profit, if any.

Theres a guy near me who buys a lot like this. He doesn’t need to make silly money and his stuff is always fairly priced- never hangs around long.

Bingo, you can only use cash haggling on private stuff unless you want to appear dodgy.

Everything needs a paper trail including vat, if it's in your account as per @doobinthreaten to walk away and actually do so and await a desperate call in a few days.

If it ain't in your price, treat it like any customer and walk away with no hard feelings, it's business.

Didn't want the finance element of it, for me continual things on finance isn't good,, it's probably why so many construction firms going bump, firms living beyond  there means rather than  assets being owned.... Should things start getting awkward you can sell things off or at end of useful life you can sell stuff on....

If dealers are twats I just walk away, I've no interest In time wasters or people thinking their doing me a favour

Defo not doing that - machine is well looked after and handles faultlessly. It’s a tracked 8MCR (tab) btw and I understand the specialist part which is why I want it otherwise id of walked away weeks ago and bought another 8t.

@doobinis correct I recently purchased a E27 at a great price by basically putting the other brands prices in front of them and saying beat it!

bloody hell, that was you too? You're splashing the cash currently! Hows the E27 working out, any teething issues? There's always a leak with a new Bobcat! What was the price again in the end?

What's the plan for the skidsteer element of the 8MRC then, big grab for shifting timber/brash on site clearance?

To be fair it's rarely in my account, but a good line of credit is as good as cash to a dealer- they get their bank transfer either way.

It's definitely abused, and super low interest rates for nigh on twenty years is a major reason the country is in such a mess, with vastly inflated asset prices. However, finance has been good for me to grow- I could never have done it without it.

You can always sell stuff on finance, you just have to settle the finance before you can receive any balance.

Yep me - it’s a great machine, nothing to date although we went round it following delivery tightening everything. 34k inc guarding and grab.

Ha its better investing then watching it make fack all in the bank. TBH it’s abit of a new venture as such on the 8MCR but I just looked at it and thought we could make some money with that. The versatility and pumps are gonna make it interesting - vision involves the usual

attachments and trailers! Habitat creation and de-veg works. If all fails they hold residual well “nothing ventured, nothing gained”
