Not true on the whole. The vast majority are only heat treated and are perfectly burnable.  There is a stamp on every pallet that tells you but in my experience you rarely find anything other than HT (heat treated).  Having said that, there is a lot of air in a pallet and not much wood plus they burn fast and hot.  Great for kindling but hard work for the amount of wood you get out of them for any other purpose.

true, you have to crush them up, ideally shred them, to get the output. a huge pile of pallets doesn't make a huge pile of crushed up bits though!

I have waste wood offcuts from kindling manufacture . I can’t store enough to fill an arctic and if I did it would be once a year . I can store enough to fill a high sided tipping trailer and bring it to you . We are based in Andover would need to do the maths . Bring to you for a few quid verses paying local to dispose .

Out of interest mate how do you collect the waste? Got a load of conifer tops and logs that we were going to chip and dump but if you want the waste?

i wait till I get 300+ ton then hire a big slow speed shredder in and a digger with grab. We shred the lot in 24 hrs then lorry it to site and store it in a shed till we burn it.

with rising costs it’s barely worth doing now tbh but I’d love the smell

The OP has not hinted at what he would pay for say 2 arctic bulker load sat in a yard 40 mile away from his yard ? I get the feeling he is wanting it for next to nowt ? but every thing in life has a value and that value is far more to some than it is to others,,

I know of 3 local ish yards where tree surgeons tip off (log chip and brash), 2 are free of charge and one is a tenner a load weather it be a barrow full or 5 tonne, all 3 of them are no where near as busy as they where 3 or 4 yrs ago ? and there is a very simple answer to that one and it is as the age old saying goes, money talks,

One of these yards a friend of mine takes all the shite log from it for chipping (i do know what he pays for it and its not peanuts) and its 1 or 2 arctic load a wk ATM  unlike 3 or 4 yrs ago it was 4 or 5 arctic load a wk, sorry to say things have changed as some one said above due to green energy ? and the days of getting timber of any sort for little money have virtually gone,

10 yr ago i was paying £950 for 25 tonne loads of decent sized hardwood today you can put 2k in front of the £950 and thats if you can get a odd load,

None of us can compete with the likes of Jenkinsons who are running over 2000 trucks and seem to have the waste timber biomass job sawn up from one end of the country to the other with the likes of Tilhill and Euro forest all selling to jenkinsons and have signed deals with em, so the likes of us aint got a cat in hells chance of getting much nowadays,,

i do still get a bit of timber from harvesting sites but its a couple of tonne of 2.5mtr a couple of tonne of 3.1mtr a few 3,7mtr and a few 4,9mtr then some big rough 2,5mtr over size, this may equate to a total from 5 or 6 tonne to may be 15 tonne but all i am doing is tidying up for them as its not worth sending a wagon for a part load,

i would think you are on the RHI payment for your boiler so your getting paid for each kilowatt of heat you produce ? i know a few on this RHI payment and they just buying walking floor arctic loads of dried chip,,

some one did say facebook market place and thats where the tree surgeons are getting rid of there excess log but for good money,, i used to take a good amount from a few tree surgeons but not had much this last few years,,
