Thanks both! Seems like Sycamore is the best bet. Does it all seem the same species in your opinion?

Seeing the bark peeled off makes me think sycamore, climbed a few like that.

The end grain or dirt in the last pic, looks very coarse, makes me think ash, but that may be dirt confusing things.

Probably, but I'm not sure to be honest. It's hard to tell as it looks as though it was cut down quite a while ago.
