Being an old git and having moved from one job involving safety to another, I can understand the concerns of many people, is training for people to keep on top of the latest techniques or is it an industry for some people to earn a very good living on the backs of good working people.

People have to remember that in this country there is NO LAW as such for the buying selling and use of chainsaws.:confused1: You can walk into any super market DIY and buy any type of chainsaw:blushing: yes including top handled:sneaky2:

I for myself, do not like the way the pruning of mature trees is going for most it looks silly unbalanced AND is it you will have to come back early to re-prune :thumbup1:

Can the old ways of pollarding be looked at.

Travel through northern mainland Europe at this time of year it can be seen that the 3,5,and 7year cycle of coppice and pollarding is still in practice.

I have been reading this thread with great interest.

One of the surprising points is that:

There have been 2181 views

92 replies and ONLY 75 members have owned up to either having or not. Hmm!

I do not mind admitting that I have neither but plan to do so asap.

Got both.

Not so sure on cs40 training, its quite an "artistic" unit, either you can "see" how to do a real good reduction or you cant (although i believe it is the only CS unit where you don't need to use a chainsaw). I really enjoy cs41.

Lots of utility boys are getting 40 these days as its a pre requisit for UA2.3.
