He keeps making videos you can really take things away from. Two things that stood out to me on this one:

1:04 - I was screaming at him to rig it. I'm sure he could have spent more time on a better cut and dropped it flatter but why? You're going to rig forty other branches. Just rig forty-one. You always do a couple of easy ones first thing to get a feel for it anyway. Well I do anyway.

3:25 - Did he have to lift it that far? No.

4:17 - But did it just make life peaceful, predictable, quiet, safe? Yes.

"Well that was the only easy one we've done so far."

That's why I lift when I don't need to. It's just nice.

Love it Alex, another great vid.

I’m always impressed how he owns his mistakes, very un-American!

You’re spot on about the cock up on the first limb.

Like you I often rig a couple of initial pieces unnecessarily to get a feel for the system and how the wood is hinging etc.

Rigged pieces are normally easier for the ground crew as well.

Looking forward to the stem/mill vid.

I like in his other recent video when he said he needed to look after the yew tree then threw a branch at it.

Aye. I'm watching him cut needless corners on the other screen in a different video. I didn't say he was perfect. I said you can learn a lot from watching him.
