My g372XP has been on the healing bench for a while, it was running ok but the exhaust fell off and stripped the studs die to my poor assembly. I could have helicoiled but I bought a Meteor cylinder and piston kit upgrade. I will keep the original as a spare.

Im a little disapoonted that a £130 cyl kit is giving less compression than the original, only 120 PSI, tho the quality of the plating does look far better. Does it just need more running in, have I done something wrong? Should I pull it and inspect?

Cheers

**************** sake, you idiot. Don't waste another penny of money or second of time on it. Learn the lesson that it's teaching you and then give it to the next person who needs to learn it.

What lesson is that?

Meteor kits are supposed to be good quality aftermarket kits. The rest of a saw is nearly irrelevant when compression testing.

Anyway it runs ok and cuts well.

I'll likely order a g3120 very soon for the occasional bigger job.

How much do they cost?

Not spending money on buying crap and then spending more money keeping it going to be left with something still worthless. A twenty-year-old Stihl 066 is worth £400 running. Your blue clone was worth £40 when it arrived.

@AHPP  We will have to disagree on that. It wasnt broken, it got an upgrade and has paid for itself.

Anyway back to the question. Meteor cylinder kit, they were recommended as the best aftermarket option. Why is it only getting 120psi? Have I fitted it incorrectly?

You pulled off a cylinder with poor plating and that the studs had pulled out of and replaced it with a £130 one that makes 120 psi. Your saw is still worth £40.

Poor plug threads in the cylinder, leaking carb or manifold, rings not correctly fitted and to a lesser extent crank seals leaking??
