Non Payer

Been in this trade a long time, and never came across this problem.

Was asked to remove a stump.

Removed the stump.

Now customer says the stumps still there🤔

Here's before, during, and after...IMG_6101.heicIMG_6102.heicIMG_6102.heicIMG_6110.heic

I know I'm getting old but WTF!!

Keep asking him to send me pictures of his issue, as he says the stumps still there, but he sends no photos, just threats that if we take it further, he'll counter claim, for his lawyers, and time lost and how his gardener lost a days work because she could not plant there.

Anyone else ever had to deal with non payers?

havent seen the photos, but stump sticks above the ground.

if theres nothing sticking up out of the grass then the stump is gone and whats left is root.

pays to always be clear before you start. but theres always gonna be one thats a dick about it

Terminology will not help. I talk about stump grinding, not removal.

Go to site, have a dig about and see if there is anything left. If not present the option of small claims or payment. Don’t take it personally and explain that they should not if you take them to court - it’s just business

I can't see the pictures either, but in my opinion a stump carries on below the ground until you reach soil again, with the chunkiest bit of the roots included. Not as much as grubbing it out with a bucket of course, but a goodly portion.

What's a .heic file?  It wants me to download another program to view it, which won't be happening.

All I can think of is that the gardener has tried to plant something with a big rootball and can’t dig deep enough because some of the stump is remaining below the level you ground to.

Or he’s a blagger….

Thanks, trying hard not to lose my shit on him.

Been out to site, and checked it, and no problem.

He's coming back now with getting someone out to finish the job and deducting that of my invoice.

I'd find it hard to agree with, if I was asked to look at this job.
