Ebay cash on collection is no more

Don't think eBay care about legitimate money or not, they care what they can move through their multiple location companies to pay zero tax.

Plain and simple it's about money, the IKEA model of each service is provided separately so it means less tax than an all in one arrangement of old

I thought they take a percentage of the sales as a fee? If you cancel auction and pay cash then nothing to them.

That was the way in the past, bit like the advert in the post office.

Either way they got a little of something and more if it sold and even more if it was paid via PayPal, now they'll get nothing if everyone goes marketplace or elsewhere.

You cant do that effectively as you cannot communicate addresses emails tel numbers etc in normal messages prior to the sale. So if you did end an auction, then both you and the seller wont have contact info so rendering ending the auction for an off ebay sale impossible

Incorrect.

Trade numbers while the auction is live then end it and continue contact outside eBay

They're trying to stop that, they apparently check the messages for contact details. Obviously one way as a seller is have your phone number in the photos, so long as someone else doesn't report the listing

You can still trade numbers prior to ending the auction

Only if you're subtle and even then it's very difficult. What's why people put business cards, logo in background etc to get around it.

You try putting a phone number in the message box and it'll block it entirely and keep doing it and they'll ban you.

No you cant ....unless you are very inventive and you try to circumvent 'normal' communication...and even then it is very difficult. If you think you can simply message someone with your contact details then im afraid you are incorrect
