Mental arithmetic wrong, whoops.

That’s a good lad 👍👍

Christ I bet that hurt like a bitch 😂😂😂

Cant make those type of basic schoolboy errors SP when you are self employed or running a small business,😞 jokes aside we all make the odd mistake or typo 🤷‍♂️. It’s how you deal with that counts.

Thinking of self employed and I know this is a mute point given that pay per mile is currently just an idea, 20,000 miles.. all business miles and claimed as an expense?.... so 15p a mile or 2p a mile... it comes off your tax bill? Pay some tax on one hand, don't pay so much tax on the other?

You're just making it a Gordon brown style system. How many pages is the tax advise something like 1200 pages and was before Gordon like 600.

You make a system simple, so everyone pays equally to what they earn. That way we all know the score instead of CEOs paying less tax than the cleaners.

Leave road tax and fuel alone.

All EVs at service/mot or over the air like a smart meter pay say half what they would from the equivalent petrol or diesel.

Plus get ready, brace brace brace touch you're toes as you know what's coming.

Rubbish

Private mileage is already discounted.

More accounts to do  more BS more civil servants to pay etc etc etc

Keep it simple stupid.

It is simple, bill comes in "You drove 20,000 miles, £££ please", pass bill to accountant with all the other expenses - recharging, maintenance, cleaning, and so on, and perhaps a note "out of that, 5200 miles were private"... job done... a half decent accountant could do that with their eyes shut.

What's the obsession with making life and tax EVEN more complicated?.

You pay for fuel and that's kinda done with for petrol and diesel.

These shenanigans should only apply to EVs.

Mrs miggins who does no miles except the supermarket gets to keep her 1litre and needs to pay no more

I'd agree with you there, petrol and diesel are easy, pay-as-you-go, tax done, submit the receipts for expenses, cannot do that with electric.. in the future they will need to change it about though because someone will always whinge if they perceive that someone else is getting a better deal than them.

My plan.... go electric with a couple of kw solar panels will give me free miles, tax free... someone else will moan though if they pax tax on a pay as you go model (petrol station chargers, and perhaps smart metering at home) and I don't... so keep it fair and even,. the same method for all rather than 2 parallel systems... but that is going to be a few years in the future yet.

Don't quote me but I remember seeing something about California where they made it illegal or something like that to just use your own solar.

Plus that's before we get into an industry where you're car is digital, so some little guy in India might clock it for you!.

SP

like  I said earlier its how you react to a mistake that counts. Stop trying to dig yourself out of a hole. You are talking shite

The amount of red tape and administrative bs involved already are horrendous.
