Why not leave exhaust off then... wipe along the gasket. Hang the saw up and go make a brew. Come back out and see where the oil.is coming from?

 

It's a fair big repair if you did it right. But why not if you find source of leak, drain tank, clean area thoroughly maybe even key with sand paper and clean area again then epoxy resin over the area? 

 

Might be worth a shot and it's what I would do to give the saw a chance

Would you epoxy resin this or do you think it needs more iv got a back up saw but this is my go to saw

Seen plenty like that, this was why they added an additional screw to clamp the crankcase tighter in that area, if the saw is a good runner yes it’s worth doing, split the crankcase and fit a new gasket, as a belt and braces repair also use some instant gasket either side of the new gasket, it would probably be worth replacing the main bearings as it’s apart, pretty sure we can advise you as you go if you choose to repair it.
