The 5 nearly 6 year old asked for a castle for his birthday.

Slightly over-engineered, not many true right angles in it... good and sturdy, anyway.

I'll update once I've added the drawbridge, arrow slits, siege ladder, and a lick of paint.

By comparison...my weak effort.

Mindlessly chopping bits of spruce up into kindling.

Satisfying in that I now have a wheelbarrow full.

This was late last night, but I didn't want to keep anyone awake with the excitement.

Picking the seeds out of hundreds of lupin pods.

Did the evening primroses a few days ago, and I'll be doing the snapdragons later this week hopefully.

For next year's sowings? I've got to do a similar exercise for seed beans, but I'm saving that until it gets really miserable in the evenings.

Achieved by Lunch....

Went out with the intent to sharpen some chains and clean the saws after a couple of sh1tty wet days.

Got distracted by a recent SDS Drill auction purchase. Stripped and cleaned the motor and brushes. It now works 100% potter-age.

Who knows what this afternoon will bring?

Been at this for a while.

American  wall clock circa 1890. Case and face beyond repair, movement not working, hence a bargain in a local bric-a-brac shop.

Movement cleaned and adjusted to function and pendulum spring hanger repaired. Mounted on a 1950's Brazilian cruise ship souvenir tray.(educated guesswork!).

It's got a lovely sound and not too intrusive.

Not finished yet, bell for chime to be found and fitted and tray to be polished and varnished, so down it must come at some stage.
