Self build chainsaws

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I've read about buying complete kits for self-build chainsaws, Stihl and husqvarna clones. I've read about it on UK and US forums but can only seem to find them on a US website. Does anyone know where/if I can get them in the UK? Thought it would be a good way to learn about saws for future repairs! Probably looking for the ms361 clone. Thought if anyone would know you guys are likely to know, thanks

Purchased a Farmertec MS660 clone on a Black Friday deal a few years back.

Surprisingly turned up before Christmas and spent a couple of days to put it together. Which was fun.

Ran ok and was used a few times to cross cut when the BonaFide 660 was in the milling rig.

Plus points:
Full set of spares for the 660

Performance of 660

Minus points

Chinese near enough, not exact match parts.

Went out of tune and needed a retune every few months

Substitute brake bands and other safety critical parts with original parts (on advice from youtube build vid)

NOT to be relied on as you would German manufactured saw

If you can cope with that, it is what you are after.

Keep an eye out, they often do "deals"

@Mark56   Straight from Farmertec

Discover top-quality chainsaws and chainsaw parts with Farmertec. Our commitment to excellence ensures reliable and efficient tools for your forestry and gardening needs.

Paid via Paypal from memory as the whole £ vs $ was sorted by them.

Postage wasn't great but nothing is cheap delivery wise from 'Merica
