My B+E trainning was £35 p/h with the test at £115. I think the C1 test is the same but training will set you back about £600 quid i think you need to get a medical done by your doctor for C1 too. You definatly do for cat C which cost even more. Thing that if you get your C+E you also get C1+E too but you still won't be able to drive a landy with a 3.5t trailer as that is B+E.

If you have B without E, and then take and pass the C test followed by the C+E test, doesn't that automatically add the E entitlement to the B as well?

I assume that you can't go from B to C+E without doing C first, but do you have to have B+E before you can go for C+E?

I'm lucky, my licence is well pre-97 and I did the HGV test when it was still Class 3, Class 2, and Class 1. Much easier to understand!

I asked that when i was booking my B+E as i'd have rather paid the extra money but it doesn't work that way according to the trainer as they are different catagories. You don't have to have B+E to do C+E. It's all so complex now.

cos im not working and still signing on the dole i asked the job center if i could get a trailer licence paid for as it would help me get work. they told me they couldnt pay for a course but to go to a place called connextions, i dont know if its the same place all over england or not but they have a grant upto £1000 for courses n stuff, they do mosta the paper work and you just have to fill out an application form and they send it all off, then you have to wait for a reply. i havnt heard anything back yet and its not gaurenteed whether they will say yes or not.

i think you have to be unemployed to use the grant, not 100 percent sure tho

ive allready sent the application form off asking for B+E though but i should have tried gettin the better one :(

Its a bit of mine-field but we run 7.5 tonne with 750kg trailers. (pre 97 licence holders have this entitlement, unless its been revocked due to disqualification and sometimes due to admin errors at DVLA) all our other lads have been on driver training had to do LGV first which gives you 7.5 plus talior up to 750kg then a seperate test for 7.5 tonne plus trailer... some lads go straight for class 2 but you still need to do a class 2 plus trailer.
