Yh they make it out like that haha and just trying to find a local company but the council are offering apprenticeships very soon so might go with them

Go with whom you can.

I went private on training. I needed to keep working and add chainsawing to my insurance.

My mate smashed his leg so I ended up working with his partner to keep their business going .

Maintenance and cross cutting is cheap enough and puts you on-site with most.

The rest is about being fit and as mentioned bringing lunch...lots of lunch,coffee,cake,crisps ... More lunch and some extra cake...and chocolate....and water...and biscuits....

If you go with the council I would expect you to become lazy, slow and above all far too safe to be economically viable...😁

You will inevitably come in contact with ex forces chainsaw operators...

That will help you if you can find them...

There was a real problem amongst the utility cutting crews years ago .

The powers that be started piss testing them and reduced the staff population by over 50% 

...😂😂😂😂 I noticed that the trains didn't seem to go past so fast ..... Or faster ....

Only willing to go with Kirklees council for the tickets and good wage for a apprentice there offering 11£ n hour apprentice but as soon as I got me tickets id **************** off from the council👍

After getting trained you should stay for 2 years. It's polite.

The council don't mind beers and cake onsite either in my experience....😂

Plus it's worth it for the starter pension.

 

And yes, it's generally considered polite to stay with them a little after the training.

 

Being council the rates aren't bad, when you consider the holidays and additional training they'll throw in.

 

So it's all worth trying, just make yourself as employable as possible. If it's climbing get into that as well to make you stand out from the crowd.

Yeah I'm all for fun**ING around and enjoying what's a tough job and has it's shit days but you do have to prove some sort of longevity with regards to employment.
