Chainsaw for small woodland

If you can find a husky 345 there great. I'm still a fan of the Germans but in a small wood the husky does win.

I picked up a new husky 345 just a year or two ago to fill a size gap I needed.

It's a great saw as a back up and for light use.

After using an ms 038 av for donkeys years, the 441 feels like a racehorse tbh, same weight as the 038,10cc more output, great a.v. performence and sips fuel with a decomp valve etc.Saying that, its universally hated as the bastard child of the 461.Its not light by today's standards, and indeed a tad bulbous in profile (tho I like a big gel),but its a.v. figures stand up pretty well with the current saws. And its plenty big enough for me tbh.Its just nice to be able to run a 25" bar when the odd big beech has to come down/ gets windblown. And looking around at the many, many mature Ash on various properties I visit it will be needed more and more I suspect.

The 441 is a big old beastie. I like it but find it heavy for pushing around a small woodland when a smaller saw will suffice.

If I only needed one saw I would definitely go husquvarna but as I have a choice of a few then yes the 441 is a good solid farm saw.

Whatever you do then, don't pick up a 400! 😂 Seriously, on paper, the 441 has the edge on power, and can run a bigger bar.

Progress in saw development is really quite impressive. The 441 is 72cc as opposed to the old 038 61cc-I think, but weighs the same 6.6kg.The other side of the coin is the 038 was 4hp, and now the 50cc 261 is also 4hp but say,5kg!No doubt husky/echo's have made similar strides.

Indeed yes, but perhaps very different horsepower. The 261 is really really lively and rapid, but I'd say the 038 had more " grunt ". We had two tractors at work years ago, different models, but seemingly almost the same. Different fuel systems, one was eager and lively, great on trailers, but no guts at all. The other would just lug and lug.

Thats a really good summation of the difference 👍
