Now you mention it, looks like that to me. Presumably his long rope snapped and his short strop saved him from coming down to ground - still must have got some nasty injuries being thrown around like a rag doll. The timing of the shout would also fit with realising his top rope was still attached.

Will may well have sussed it.

Imagine having enough pull to snap a 2.8t rated rope on your bridge?

 

I won’t complain so much about my harness occasionally nipping my nuts in future….
