I bought 3 units as I was tired of shouting over machinery noise and throwing pine cones at the climber to attract his attention.

They only ever worked once as a set.

One, the sound kept cutting in and out on it's second outing, so Freeworker support in Germany suggested updating the software.

I've downloaded the app, tried updating, now the app is bugging (see images) and won't let me past these messages into the app itself.

I removed the app then downloaded it again to no avail.

I cannot get more than two to connect at one time.

I might just send them all back tbh and stick to throwing pine cones.

 

Anyone had similar experience?

Can't help much, but my advice get them sold and get the Stihl procom

Do they need a phone for each headset, maybe using the phone as a WiFi mesh network as that would be considerably stronger.

 

Bluetooth isn't exactly known for it's distance, my headphones for the iPad barely get 6m before they're useless.

The Bluetooth is just for updating the software.

They don't use it between units.

That’s a real pain. Fwiw I bought 3 of them in June and haven’t had any issues, bar when we were working right next to a 5g tower and they got pretty garbled. I have since heard of reliability issues, but not for me. 
Bit of an idiot check but I assume you’re connecting them properly, ie 1-2 then 2-3?
