Give it a good clean check chain tension, then carb and tick over setting may be a bit high, then clutch springs

Darkey i have been thinking about this. I take it that you are unqualified as you asked that particular question? I may be wrong there, but on your basic chainsaw ticket you are taught all aspects of saw maintainence, or at least you should have been. If you arent then you ought to if yoiu are thinking of becoming a professional user, and if you arent going pro it is still a very worthwhile course, as it will save you far more than the cost of the course in savings at your local garden machinery shop. Just a thought.

have you thought of checking the crankshaft oil seals maybe not forming a perfect seal and sucking in air and not leting the engine shut down. had the same problem with one off my saws

As a general rule if it is a seal most times it's on the clutch side .As such it's not that difficult to replace .

 

A good indication of a bad seal will be the saw slowly looses power as it heats up requiring carb adjustment to maintain power. After it cools down then the thing will run rich .

i gotta say i was thinking what tommer9 said,i would have thought someone using a ms200 or whatever really should have basic knowledge of chainsaw maintenance (as a chainsaw is one of the most dangerous tools you could use)a saw running on is a basic thing to happen,i could understand if it was running rough or piston was down etc

sorry to sound harsh m8 but using a saw you need to know basic stuff
