Climbing alone?

What's the general feeling about climbing alone recreationally. I have access to a whole range of very mature trees in our arboretum - however don't have any one around that also has CS38.

 

This would purely be for practice with no tools going up and no work being carried out.

 

Do you see this as a definite no no - what's your views?

I have had an accident rec climbing put luckly i was with a mate and a park with people pass through.

when i first started and i used to go climb a few trees in are woods allways had a mobile with me though, its not great practice but i have done it

Personally I woudnt risk it, it only takes the slightest problem to arise and you could end up in a right muddle. Having another climber with you can help you if you get in a fix, will be a laugh, and you can compare notes on techniques.

I’ve done it (and suspect plenty of people do it also). No better way to make yourself concentrate on the job in hand.

I climb trees, rock and mountains all on my own, find it both exciting and challaging, just know your limits and take a step back if your on your own... an exit strategy and some large balls required.....
