Old climber needs help

I climb trees and use a rope for security and getting around. Can't see the need for a spiders web set up in a tree from another one next to it just to do a crown reduction .🙃

 

You could try a different knot out at least. Something like a Distel Hitch say, tied in separate friction cord. Also, add a small slack tending pulley. It'll be so much smoother and nicer. With only very modest outlay and minimal extra kit to carry.

I climb so infrequently that I've never invested in a bit of kit, I just climb on a knot. Having climbed regularly on a zigzag before that, I ****************ing hate it. I cannot imagine climbing day to day without something fancy, like your playing the game with one hand tied behind your back just for the hell of it. Mental.
