waterproof jacket - which is best?

the best one i had was a fountains issue smock type thingy, i was gutted when i had to return it! the nearest and best i found is the windsor topex, its the same outer material but has a plastic liner in it. fantastic .

update on my clark waterproof. i was climbing in it all day yesterday, rain/sleet started at about 11 and didnt stop the rest of the day. i was bone dry underneath when i took it off......big thumbs up

I really rate my Stein jacket, well I did until I totally jammed the zip, tried to force it and damaged it. Now it has to be worn with the zip done up all the time, pita, but once its on its on:thumbup1:

I have both the hiflex and stein. The combination of both is great for standing around in the cold. Stihl is waterproof to an extent. But love how the stein in lightweight and fully waterproof. Worked in the rain a tad this week. Been bone dry bar my gloves. Looks good with my stein helmet and hi viz stretch airs

 

I would recommend the stein. I also have a regatta softshell £20 from tkmax. It's a great layer underneath the hiflex when it's cold. Bought a small instead of a medium. Is good for climbing as it's comfy and out the way

This was discussed on another forum i go on and there was this reply and it seems a good option and nice and cheap as well.

 

Ok choices available, this is what I have for range days, the gortex linr is button in and out but I have lightly waxed the outside of the jacket.

Or Multicam, although it looks light, it matches UK colours a lot better although only used in summer (Wales, it rained 4 weeks of the time I was there) and late summer Thetford, it merges with the light browns of the UK. DPM seems to Dark.

Soooo many choices.....

 

Starting to look like down to three really, the stein - clark one - or go into town and get whatever goretex one the outdoor places have on offer. All seem to be roughly in same price range so just makes tougher.
