Yes i did flood it! Thought it wasn't getting fuel but then had in peeing everywhere with the c head off.

One thing I haven't done is the flywheel removal as never attempted it before. Is that side righty-tighty or righty-loosey? And do you mind explaining what I'm looking for once it's removed please? Appreciate the kind help.

Normal right hand thread, I guess the key is part of the flywheel casting like most modern machines, so if sheared new flywheel.

is the top end genuine? My first thought when i saw the first picture was that piston looks aftermarket and and the gasket between the crankcase doesnt look right for such a clean saw giving me the impression someone has been in there before you.

I thought the same about the piston . OEM are usually a matt finish . ( on Husqvarna anyway )

Probably should be a Mahl cylinder if genuine, it woul help to know the history of this machine, and £40 crazy.

Seller no particularly forthcoming...got the impression he'd tried but given up. Only ID mark on cylinder head is 1135.

I had thought the same and you might well be right Chris. But the rest of the saw shows zero signs of wear also. Worst part as you spotted in the gasket but on close inspection it's just a little dirty but it's integrity seems good. No gouges, gaps or holes etc. I'm baffled tbh...

The gasket doesnt look OEM to me for a saw that clean id expect to see a green line of gasket down the middle of the cases. If the gasket isnt OEM i would want to know why the cases have been split on such a clean saw. Id be splitting the case myself and starting from the bottom up. A 361 is worth it. Can also see from the pics that there looks to be an AV mount missing from the handle to the square hole on the crankcase.

Is the whole saw a 361 chinese copy? Too many things on the pictures dont look right to me

That piston is not OEM and the cylinder has those round plating marks on the combustion chamber that I have only ever seen on aftermarket cylinders.

The OEM cylinder should have "Stihl" and "Mahle" or "Gilardoni" on it plus the part number. There should be a stamp on a small flat near the plug hole.

I reckon this machine is a Chinese copy, probably Farmertec.

The decomp shouldn't leak in the out position - you could either lap grind it in, replace it or replace it with a solid plug.

Basic engine fault finding is ensuring the saw has spark, compression and fuel....unfortunately that isn't the whole story, the spark has to happen under compression and at the correct time, the carb has to deliver a fuel air vapour but in the correct volume etc.

If the saw hasn't run from new, and it looks that way, it may have a manufacturing issue.

Good luck!
