Vehicle/Fleet management software ideas

So we only have 4/5 vehicles but they are driven by different people and there are even situations where the driver in the morning won't be the driver on the way back, or someone jumps in to tip off mid day.

I'm concerned that one of my guys could get a speeding ticket etc and it could potentially be difficult to know who was driving at the time.

Would also be cool if pre start checks on vehicles could be logged in an app. I know there are a lot of suppliers out there but they seem to be aimed at larger companies and wondered what people use on here?

Which is great until you're not sure.

Can take a couple of weeks to get a ticket through and if it happened say midday when we have 4 vans on a job and we cant remember who tipped off one of the vans (sometimes 1 person literally does tips throughout the day, tip van 1, return, take van 2, return, tip van 1) so I think it could easily happen without it being an honesty issue

Just stick a note book in each vehicle and require the driver to fill in at the start and end of each journey?

Yeah thats probably the simplest way, did want it work with keeping a log of vehicle checks as supposedly a requirment since our last audi but will probably just go with your suggestion

No one wants to receive a fine if they weren't driving so it should be self policing if you just have a simple drivers log book. If one of my colleagues tried to drive off in the van i had just been driving, with me still signed in as the last driver,. Then I would be bloody quick to make sure I had signed it over to him.

I have a Kubota excavator. It is fitted with a tracker, that also has a keypad where you enter a code to start the thing.

You can have i think it is 50 different codes [for different drivers]..

If you got these for your vehicles, you could easily see who was driving what and when. You would also be able to follow the vehicles on your pc and see where they had been too.. plus a LOAD of other things too..

This is what i would have..

Yes, look up trackunit manager.

I cannot find much info, they want to do you a demo. It will message me with alerts if the machine starts, moves does anything. How many hours each driver, when each started and stopped.. It is a complete fleet management tool. The subscription is £120 a year [i think] The thing was on the machine when i bought it. I just had to contact them to arrange the thing be transfered to me..

For what you want, it would be amazing.. [i only have one machine, so wasted on me!!]

john..
