Newbie advice needed

Good afternoon everyone,

I currently work in healthcare but I've had an interest in this line of work for a few years. In January I decided to finally do something about it and got my cs30/31 ticket. I was offered a job as the company I took the test with also ran a tree surgery business alongside but I turned it down and said at the moment I would just be looking for weekend work. They understand my reasons and agreed if they did get Saturday work they would give me a call (although they prefer not to work weekends).

I have two questions:

I have all the PPE/first aid but my chainsaw is an ms181. Will this be enough for now? I'd love a ms261c but it's alot of money to drop on a something which I have little real experience in.

My other question is what would everyone's advice on the next step be? I really want to dip my toes in whilst continuing my full time job on weekdays. I've heard alot of people don't last but I don't want to mess anyone's time. Is there other tickets or anything else I'll need to be attractive to potential employers ?

Thank you for your time.

Main things are what you have - helmet boots trousers gloves. Usually not leather riggers or chainsaw gloves as they are hopeless in the wet.

I wouldn't splash out on a 261 yet, the first work you are likely to be doing is dragging, clearing and shifting stuff. Also if you need a saw the firm you're working for will have one.

You just need to get started, so it's either ringing more firms or use a few days holiday to work for that one.
