What are the odds…

Had a belter from earlier this week. Climber was at the top of a huge Beech and was lowering some pole pruners off his climbing line. Somehow he managed to tie the end of his line just above his stopper knot onto the phone cable. Which meant he couldn’t come down to untangle it and we couldn’t reach it to untie it. Quite the predicament 🤣 

 

That was on Wednesday. By all accounts he’s still up there.

Or rescue climber with the equipment to carry out a rescue?

I was expecting the same response I had when I see it which was “how the ****************s he managed that”.

 

For the record before any more Arb Police rock up. We had another 3 lines in the tree. And another 2 qualified climbers on the deck with their own gear on top of the above.

 

And to clarify further he’s not still up there.

I was thinking it was a good job he didn't have 2 ropes or he might've tied a double fishermans round the phone line!

How did he manage that?

 

I did a tree with 5 lines in couple of months ago, was a right pain dragging the tail over the lines so I suppose he must have left a loop over the line and dropped the tail through at some point?

Yeah it’s the only explanation I can think of. Takes some doing though!
