How much to pay an employee

Thinking of taking on my groundie, he is 19 and has 30/31, 32/34. what would be the going hourly rate for 8 hrs??.

£6 to 7 an hour at 19 cant be bad, Can it?? If hes good

Depending how hard he works id say £60-80. Hmm now ive said that its making me think i dont get paid enough, ohwell!

personally the tickets go for nothing in my book, he is worth what he is worth, put him on minimuim wage and make him show you what he is worth

yeah mozza thats wot i was thinking 6.50 - £ 7.00 an hour, he is hard worker but has a lot to learn about cutting, makes daft mistakes that a good experienced groundie wouldnt . do i have to provide equipment and ppe??

if you employ him you are legally bound to provide his ppe but like most fims is he is supplying his own kit he can charge you for use

how many staff do you have? i think if its under 4 then no. but it all comes down to the employer imo. i have learned that giving lads too much is a waste of time, they have to rough it to appreciate the good times. i got he haw from my bosses and crap money so i always spoiled my guys, pah!!not anymore.

£6.50 is 260 a week and at 19 and still learning i think thats plenty.

I think £60 / day but when he gets more experienced put it up to £70 then £80. Makes him feel valued then and that he has progressed.

 

As for PPE, buy him his first lot but tell him the prices and that if he damages them (other than general wear and tear) he will have to pay for replacement gear!

yeah good idea parker, coz them pants and boots aint cheap, i am getting him to understand to respect stuff. im gonna get it in the contract of employment that if he brakes owt he must pay for it type thing??
