I've just spent a jolly afternoon wrestling it all apart and cleaning it up after it clogged up after only 21 months.

Working local and a lazy driving style is the cause.

Now, tomorrow I can get a blanking plate made up locally, I have been advised to have a hole about 8mm drilled in the middle to let some gas through to fool the sensor.

Has anyone some experience of Iveco EGR blanking?

Will it require reprogramming? (nightmare in France)

  • Ty Korrigan changed the title to Iveco Daily 2007 2.3 EGR blanking.

In the old days we just used a thin sheet of metal like a baking try or biscuit tin thickness, so it wouldn't be noticed on the MOT.

Not sure about if you need an EGR delete, but worth a try.

After several hours of refitting the cleaned parts I took it for a test run around town.

No yellow engine light present or red EDC.

Once it reached temperature though the EDC light came on and it ran poorly.

So tomorrow I'll remove that plate and try again.

At least the system is clean.

The EGR stuff should only kick in during start up, as it recirculates at the start to boost warm up time and then it should isolate.

Obviously I'm not an expert, but you did blank it between the EGR and the engine. Allows the solenoid thing to actuate but will never get bunged up.

It’s the hope that kills isn’t it?
