Nurses pay rise

Asking for 19% was never going to go well. 

This is probably the biggest part of the problem, all the money wasted.

 

I read the other day they spent £100,000 on training staff how to deal with pregnant transgender men including the use of the terms 'chest feeding'. Not sure if that was actually true but it wouldnt surprise me these days.

When in reality all they need is a slap on the gob and told to wise up, there's £100 000 saved straight away

They absolutely deserve a pay rise. Look at the amount of newly qualified nurses, midwife’s etc compared to the numbers leaving the profession (retirement, change of career etc). The wage increase they are asking for sounds incredibly high, but in real terms their pay hasn’t kept up with inflation for years. 
Top of band 5 (most staff nurses) is around £31k-compare what they have to do for that money compared to many other jobs that have a similar/higher salary, it’s pretty insulting.

Band 5 is probably the most “common” nursing banding, most of your ward staff etc are 5’s-are you really telling me they would stay working in an industry that pays everyone below you more, but you don’t make the cut because everyone thinks you earn “enough”? 
 

I’m not for a second saying the management on 100k salary’s desperately need a rise-on that note the RCN have said they would agree to 10% not 19%- but if you continue to loose staff at the rate they are, there won’t be a national health service and it will be a damn sight more expensive if it’s private

Well the union needs to pull it's fingers out and actually stick to a coherent argument, if I was the government and they wanted 19% for everyone, I'd tell them to sling their hook aswell.

 

Hell, even 10% for everyone is ridiculous.
