Any videos of 15hp chippers showing actually chipping 120mm hardwood

 

A lot of 15hp sized chippers, but the videos show brushwood going through them.

 

Any links to videos plz showing actual approx 120mm hardwood being chipped.

I bought the 7hp Cobra Chipper earlier this year. It will chip up to 120mm, it takes its time pulling that size through.  But I was chipping piles of big laurel stems up this summer, along with a lot of other brash piles no problem at all. The only thing it stumbled on was dry holly, but that was mostly due to the amount of dry leaves on the stems clogging the chute. 

 

I think you will find that the wee chippers are as efficient as they say they are generally. I was very surprised that the 7hp machine could manage to chip stuff easily under 120mm and lots of it. In fact they seem to do better with bigger wood than conifer brash. But they will do that too. 

 

I have just bought a Lumag 15hp 150mm chipper am yet to use it, but I can certainly say these chippers are surprisingly good for the money.

My JoBeau is 24hp which is rated to chip 120mm, I wouldn't make a video of it because I never do it. That size slows the engine, there's no stress control so you have to pull it back yourself to allow the speed to build up. Can do it for a few bits but not productive really.

 

Wood above about 80mm gets cut to cord and taken away like that. If there's a lot of cord on a big dismantle then hire in a bigger chipper.

Exactly as Dan says above. If you’re hoping to use it like a 5” roller fed, you’re going to be disappointed. 
 

A mini chipper can be very efficient but you have to change the way you work. Take the chipper to the tree and save yourself the drag.

The whole concept around the Wee Chippers is getting the thing around the house and into the back garden instead of dragging arm loads of brash and timber to the roadside and then the subsequent clean up! Our CS100 will do 4" but why really bother? Just chip the brash at source and carry the logs out!
