Tree insurance

Question

Hi

I have a very large (20m tall) beech tree in my front garden, immediately adjacent to a public highway and primary school entrance and I would like to explore taking out a public liability insurance policy should it fall and injure someone, or worse. I have had a visual tree assessment performed and it appears healthy but I would hate for something to happen.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks.

Does your house/home insurance not include public liability?  If not then can it be extended to do so?

Our garden is surrounded by 35m tall spruce trees, with the closest neighbour just 6m away from the closest tree!  Our insurers have confirmed that we are covered should anything untoward happen

As above I'd check out the house insurance first. There is sometimes a clause that you must notify them of trees above a certain size and they might have an expectation about inspection regime.

I often refer people to this site for a common sense approach, there is a free short guide for householders.

When you say VTA, did you get a report or was it just a conversation on site?
