After a bit of advice really, need to find a good reliable 4x4 for next month, we are freelancers on line clearance in the south but traveling each week from the north east.

It has to tow a tracked chipper and house three climbers.

just wondering who finds what the best and worst is in the market place:001_smile:

we have been looking at the mitibushi l200 for life and nivara outlander around 06 or 07 reg

i have a nisan navara sport , i can happily fit 4 tall climbers in it if i need to without it getting un comfortable , as for towing ability i have used it to tow a fully , fully loaded cabstar and it did not strugle, a while back we had to tow a surveyors car back to the yard , it was i pug 306 and we did not have a problem getting to 65mph up quite a steep dual carrageway . have you thought about contacting SHB 4x4 hire ??? they have some cracking trucks and are reasonable on cost .

As cts said, i have heard good things about SHB 4x4 hire. But as im a landrover man, i would always recommend a landrover for any type of towing.

I am going to be selling my 54 Navara double cab if you are interested.

Done 48500 miles, has a couple of dents under the rear lights from reversing into things, but used regularly off-road towing a chipper.

Also towed a 7.5t and chipper up an icy hill earlier this month.

For that distance, comfort, towing ability the best vehicle bar none is the Discovery 3.

After driving one you just won`t want anything else.

I speak from experience with Land Rovers for over 30 years. Ours do lots of towing and are just so capable.

There are often ex-highways agency cars available from BCA, they have normally done just over the 100k but fully serviced and often with some remaining LR warranty.

wouldnt be without our L200's i would love a landrover but at 6'7 there just too cramped, i would go for the 4 work version as has ladder racks, carry rails etc you can still get the power upgrade for these to match the 4 life spec.
