This thread makes me sad. Shame to see these type of trees go.

If it were me doing it I would have 100 tonne crane (with fly jib) in to dismantle them, and my grab truck to shift all the timber.

Will be a lot of nice logs, and some excellent planking timber.

80% dead or decayed? big difference..

 

Can't be those trees Andy they're 30'-40' too short

Just asking! There are so few Elms of this size in the country, and in particular in such a small area, and given the fact that all these trees are recorded, that I think it may be these trees. Given that the info given as to their whereabouts is limited, I think it may be a fair guess.
