Hi new to this so I bought a good clean second hand husqvarna 555 about a year ago the saw starts and has plenty of compression but when I come off full throttle it just dies and will not idle I have changed the spark plug and air filter tried to calibrate it by letting it idle for 3 minutes and run the tip in wood for 3 minutes still no good is there anything I can do myself or is it a dealer job

Could just be the old shyte in the carb gauze strainer again. Worth checking the pump diaphragm as well, those flaps do tend to perforate sometimes. The bloke did say the compression was good...seen that before9_9worth checking as well!

Isn't the " letting it idle for 3 mins " a Stihl reset ?  I thought on a Husqvarna it was bury the full lenght of the bar in wood and cut for 3 mins not just the tip . @Dara

You are right Stubby, however leaving them on a fast idle for a few minutes can sometimes sort out the idle. Or there is the way we do not talk about, remove the throttle butterfly and use a 5/32 round file to increase the cutaway that is already there, do not remove too much though, about one stroke of the file and try the saw, it’s a bit of what I call a black art, but it does work., but make sure you try all the other suggestions, and do this as a last resort.
