Fault code on GM Arborist 150 help.

Greenmech need to produce a hopper with a strip of much thicker steel .

Yeah, ours had gone beyond that, when we tried to straighten it the weld broke along the seam.

putting it back together tomorrow morning, it’s a cracking little chipper, just need to sort out the issues caused by the previous owner.

Mick , that angled piece that's broken off simply fills in the gap to the side of the roller and helps to guide in the material. It shouldn't effect the operation of the chipper. 

It's simple enough to replace the broken mounting bracket though .

Cheers Jase, figured as much.

I had a big tracked Arbor Eater with vertical rollers like that, if you put wood in the wrong hole it would make a funny noise and not pull it in, no harm done.

The top of the hopper just before the feed rollers has bowed upwards and the weld was failing. Due I’m sure to the previous owners employees ramming oversize wood in, still, a surprising weak point. 
This was making the infeed troublesome so needed sorting. 
We cut out a section and welded a new piece in. 
Question. 
I discovered the funny bit to the left of the non static feed roller had broken it’s mounting and was moving loosely. 
I took it out (see second to last picture)

 iirc you can use the machine quite happily without it, any owners experience of this?

Our 150, the bottom of the infeed chute deformed creating a lip.

Nothing to do with feeding it over size wood.

Just insufficient welding adding to the perfect storm of faults.

GM replaced it amongst other things when I took it back to the UK.

I think we used some 50B sheet there, supposed to be thinner and stronger than other grades and the battle to keep below 750kg was real.

I understand, no real moans from me, compromises were made.

Maybe making the inner 12” (closest to the feed rollers) in something a bit thicker might have sorted it, but it’s not a real issue, a relatively easy fix.
