Blackbirds nesting in November

Probably down to the warm weather we seem to get these days. We had a bat flying a few days ago, plenty of flies and moths sill about for them to feed on.

 

As for feeding blackbirds, a large pile leaves would help as it'll encourage all the small critters they eat. You may have to keep tidying it up after they rake through it.

Niger seeds predominantly the food of Gold Finches  ( both my niger seed feeders get emptied pretty quick ) although I have seen other birds eat it .  Meal worms can be bought dry and you can re hydrate them by soaking for a time if you want or if money is no object you can buy live ones . The Black Bird will love them .

Yes, unless they are thick Goldfinch , like mine ... Woodpecker usually finishes them off thou , K

I think I noticed a bluetit prospecting for a nest yesterday. It was investigating an open steel pipe that forms the top of my lads garden swing..

Seemed early to me.

Niger seeds predominantly the food of Gold Finches  ( both my niger seed feeders get emptied pretty quick ) although I have seen other birds eat it .  Meal worms can be bought dry and you can re hydrate them by soaking for a time if you want or if money is no object you can buy live ones . The Black Bird will love them .

Is it just for Blackbirds that meal worms need to be rehydrated? I have them in the bird feeders quite often, always dried, and they always disappear. As has been said already the blackbirds aren't at all interested in the feeders.

They don't have be be re hydrated no .  Black birds are ground feeders . They will feed from a flat surface like a bird table or a flat roof but prefer the ground .
