Can anyone help?

we’ve got 2 of these deciduous trees in our garden, currently approx 25-30ft high but don’t know what they are, how tall they’ll grow etc etc

 Looks like liquidambar, aka sweetgum. You're in for a treat when it colours up for autumn in shades of yellow and red. Grows to about 20m, so yours is about half-grown.

Thank you, do you know if they can be ‘topped’ - don’t really fancy a 20m tree in my back garden (nor will the neighbours!)

They will coppice from a stump to another tree in a few years so will take off again .

Liquid ambar and you might just catch it now with pruning before it runs away from you 😉  K
