Afternoon all i had a new body made by a local welder turns out the zink tek plate he used ( chough chough) is just normal mild steel and is rusting like hell anyone know of a way to treat the steel to stop it or do i just grind it and red oxide it? Its got so bad the chip on the bottom just sticks like the proverbial to a blanket. Many thanks.

If you paid for a zinc (galvanised) and you haven’t got it send it back. The term is “Not fit for purpose”

 

if it’s not as you were quoted and paid for you will be able to return the body, at worst case you will win in small claims (assuming you have a written quote and a invoice/receipt and didn’t pay cash to dodgy Dave from the pub) 

 

In the mean time don’t sand or paint it etc - As soon as you change/modify the product (body) it will be your problem. 
 

All of the above is assuming you have only had the body a short period of time, if I remember rightly the law states words to the effect of  “a reasonable time frame” 

 

check the rules with someone who’s job it is to know the finer points (not me)

 

 

If it’s old and I’ve missed the point 3m do a good rust converter/stopper.
