45m rope is a good all-rounder, as for harness it's all down to preference, personly I have two harness austria duo and skylotec and prefere the latter every time. kraps are always usful and learn to make prusik they are quite easy. would reccomend geting few petzl caritools and a cambium saver will keep rope in good order. If possible try before you buy and get to know what you like as we are all different and like different things, also try different friction knots till you find the one that best suits your climbing style.

who just opened the can of worms

like above mate try be-for you buy, everyone has there own view on something and we all have different body shapes and sizes, try using a few harness in a tree first, when i bought mine i just tried it hanging on a hook, and now i climb in it quite allot i don't really like it  i wont say what it is because you might like it, the only way you will now what you want is by trying, i would say a 45m rope is a big rope to be pulling through small trees i have about 3 diffrent ropes all diffrent sizes, but i started of with a 35m rope you will find that extra 10m in a rope will wear your old arms out @ first :blushing: good luck mate and welcome to the forum :thumbup1:

Bit of baler twine and you'll be fine:thumbdown:.......Mongoose crabs are good, well i like them, petzl treebee cambium saver is great i added a pulley in the mallion end to make it run smoother, harness has been said try whatever you can, rope depends on what size you like the feel of Yale xtc is always a good starter rope.
