I've never been a one for saving wood other than firewood but after seeing what some people can do with it (tommer, Rob D, Ian Leach and the like) I'm inclined to save what I can from this dead Walnut and put it to a better use.

I'm gonna winch out the root ball and trunk tomorrow.

 

Is it worth saving or should I just log it up and burn it?

Yeah that bench was the biz, no good me attempting something like that though. I'll hook it out tomorrow, take some pics and see if it's worth selling.

Shame about the rest though, If Ian lived nearer he'd be making spoons, bowls and all sorts out of it. I'm burning some this arvo and it's lovely, beats conny lol.

winch it out and either give Rob D a pm as he might collect, or save it for justins show mate, prob be able to flog it there, if not i'll mill it for you for beer at J's show :thumbup:

If you want a home for the rootball and it's in decent nick I know a guy Caterham who'll have it. He specialises in working them. Can't promise a pension fund for it though!
