in some cases it aint a bad thing i knew of some search person who slapped his hand to apply the brake on a 260 and ended up in a mess.... for experienced users though i agree!

they arnt actually that bad, a mate of mine won a saw in sweden with one on. we were going to cut it off but thought we would try it for a day or two and its still atached!!

only reason i would buy one (if flush,which i aint!) would be to mothball it and sell as a collectors piece in 15yrs time cos they'll only sell a couple of dozen!!!

Thats the one that I've seen Rhys. It seemed ok. I remember someone saying something about it being for the Swedish market only, due to regulations there??? No???

for occasional users i'd say it'd be worth it, for anyone else i think it'd get in teh way.

I must praise sweden for such a load of squit , because one day before crimbo i went to a dealer in saws and for some reason they ended up with a b/new 346 with the said , in the way braky thing ,dealer could not sell it so was threatning to cut of said rear end growth , to him i replied no sir how much for that saw £300 lovley jubly i said , of course i asked if i remove the thing will it afect my warrenty no was the reply , money was paid and of i went with my new saw , got home fired it up and gave it a wurl , the tool kit came out and after a mo the growth had been removed to revel a very good 346 saw thank you mr husky.

No there is no regulations stating u to use a saw like this!

Both Stihl and Husqvarna has had versions of these previously...!

Its a marketing thing "We make the safest saw there is!.....No We do!...and so on"

A collegue swears by them! I think they are allright for straight felling conifers and snedding in a forrest, for arb work? NO! I tried one years ago up in a tree:lol: :thumbdown:

 

I would say i'ts a good saw for domestic users doing firewood and such, very safe!

stihl have had the same thing out for donkeys years! its called the quickstop brake, and its just a modified dead-mans trigger, its no more cumbersome than the reguler dead-mans.
