How ever I think the dudes that dream up the emission regs don't count the nasties that petrol engines put out  ( breaking down the ozone layer ) and just concetrate on the nasties the diesel engines put out ( low lying soot ) . They are probably as bad as each other polluting wise ,  just different .

Its the old saying, everything comes full circle! They start putting more stringent regs on petrol engines, they’ll start getting bolt ons to reduce emissions, they’ll become hard work and unreliable, then diesel will come back in to play again!

Purple colored " loons " mine !  If you rode a push bike with them on with  the pump not fitted then you fell over at every junction when your strides got caught in the little  billie doos that held the pump . Very embarrassing .
