2.2 Transit engine noise.

Ahh that's terrible! The 2014 and younger had their issues with pistons cracking and all sorts! I guess the ECU recon company should be able to say what happened? Part of the circuit is toasted, they must be able to say why? 
 
She's a beaut! Oil is absolutely pristine after 100 miles. I've never had a diesel where I struggle to see the oil level. I've boroscoped through the oil fill port and the top of the engine is spotless. I contacted days leasing who owned it before and they have all the service history for it as it was serviced by them so they are sending me the service history so I get my full history back! 
I'm going to drive it for a few more hundred miles and swap the oil though. I have the invoice for its last service and the oil was £28 which doesn't fill me with hope that it's any good quality stuff. 
 
Also, that diesel knock when hitting idle is only when it's cold so definitely an air fuel thing!

Good ohh! [emoji106] worrying thing is if its had a short or a spike from somewhere? 🥴🥴 obviously dont want it too happen again! All wiring checks out but they are known for rubbing in harness apparently! Time will tell! Get that oil changed! [emoji16]

Out of interest have you serviced the newer 2.2 transits? I know on the 2.2/3.2 rangers they have an issue with the variable oil pump and if you drain the oil for too long the oil pump can unprime itself and won't reprime. I'm not sure if these engines have the same issue

No not had any dealings with em really sorry. Seems a bit strange if its the case though, not a good thing either if its right.

So you can't vac all the old oil out . Have to leave some dirty oil in the pump ?

I've not been able to find anything about it on the transits. Basically the issue was down to the variable displacement pumps. If you took more than 15 minutes to drain and refill the oil then the pump could drain and wasn't able to self prime. 

 

Here's a bit of info about it on the ranger but I think it just affected the 3.2 maybe going off the article.
