Had my echo 7310 for a few months now, definitely opens up after 10/15 tanks through it. Very impressive so far. Great ergonomics,  starts easy warm and cold, robust build quality etc. Only thing id change is a stop button that auto resets. As I'm quite used to that on my 560xp... but that's a miniscule issue.

I use a friend's 500i regularly too, and while its a fantastic saw, I think the price difference renders the comparison a bit apples to oranges. Plus the echo feels like its built a lot sturdier.

Got the 24" bar on mine and it feels perfect.

Im sure you'll be very happy with your purchase, I certainly am.

500i is nice to run but a pig to start, especially when cold.

You must have a bad one or I must have a very good one, the starting is one of its best points up a tree  2nd pull or never more than 3 & it’s away,  you do prime it don’t you ?

Yes it gets primed and the decompression is pushed.
