what i do with hawthorn is just cut 1 stem/branch at a time and pull it out and then chip it, rather than fell a whole load then try and pull it apart, now that is a nightmare, honest mate, once you get the hang of it, i do it all with pitch fork and byer brush.

Yep, that way you would be able to winch the wee chipper through it and start using proper equipment again :001_rolleyes:

 

oh how i want to re-talaite with how i won a job today because the saving the customer made using me with gloria, she went and bought a chiminea for her new pile of firewood and saved he £120 on mulch and chippings that she usualy buys for the garden, but i wont bite mr lofty:sneaky2::biggrin:

What you need for blackthorn or hawthorn is a 12" bandit and dont bother doing any cutting :biggrin:

 

Agree; tangled, forked bent thorn will just laugh at a gravity feed machine with small hopper. Can't be arsed dressing it for that so will just burn it :biggrin:
