Freelance day rates

I often have wanted to tell people that im happy to negotiate the price to start with but am always worried that they may use this to take the piss, so generally dont say it. Its hard to judge skill as there are many different areas of this work, such as take downs, reductions, clearing. Maybe i should say what i feel my good points are and my bad.

Why dont you work for someone and build up your skills before freelancing.

If a company is paying you as a freelance climber they are not going to expect you to turn up and learn on the job.

I too agree with that, makes sense.

and sounds like i need to up my rate, £180.00 a day, you aint getting all that action, save some for me!

wish my boss was like that, if we work well were punished with "chores"

we are paid till five you know!

i hear that one, whatever happened to do your target clean the saws then bugger off.

i dunno where anyones getting 180 a day, but here in the big smoke you have to be lightning fast and bloody good to get 140 a day, standard is 100-120 a day.

ill agree with £150 a day for a decent worker, its not easy to find somebody you can work with, trust & still have a laugh with at the cafe or the local on a fri night, if you have a subbie, climber etc that fits all of the above then in my eyes his worth that because he will look after your reputation so long as you look after him,, apart from that if a bricklayer or chippie is payed circa £120 per day 'sth london' then a climber is cheap at £150!!

an experienced productive climber should be on 150 a day,no questions asked and thats all climbing equipment and climbing saw included.good workers are hard to come by and that needs to be respected throughout and gd productive groundies should easily be taking home 100 per day.the perfect world is out their you just gotta dig deep to find it.
