I put a free listing on this Google group every weekend. I get quite a bit of work out of it. Just spotted this on the forum.

I don't suppose I'll be having any work from her!

We live in a lovely commune in the North Dordogne, it is normally very quiet, but this morning we heard an unusual noise. We realised the noise came from  the machines used by workmen cutting down the top growth of trees, and then grinding them in a machine to produce chippings.

Presumably this process goes on all over the country. For what reason? The results look pretty awful, and apart from that the trees, in Spring, can no longer absorb Co2 from the atmosphere, or emit oxygen which we need.

Apart from that, the machines used need fossil fuels to drive the equipment, which of course produces pollution.

There surely must be a better way! For example planting more trees on waste ground.

I would be interested to hear your views DVNers.

Were the workmen wearing strange heavy duty trousers and did they have odd brightly coloured plastic - PLASTIC?!!! - bowls on their heads?

I saw something similar around here once - 1999 I think or was it 2000...?   🥴

Quite possibly. They've probably been tarred and feathered then run out of town. They are some beauties about!  My wife threatened me if I replied to it. Sometimes best to leave them to it.
