disposal of Green Waste and Chipping

Hi everyone, Last year I started a garden maintenance business based in Bolton, Lancs. All summer I have managed to dispose of waste at a local trade tip using my pickup and small trailer, however ive been asked by a few customers to do some more extensive work around their gardens which includes removing six large conifers. Therefore I was wondering if there was anyone that knows where I could rent a chipper locally or suggest anywhere I could pay for the waste to tipped (a friendly farmer). Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Nick

Without any local knowledge, the best I can suggest is HSS. They used to do a reasonable sized chipper for hire.

I couldn't say if it is any good; last time I hired a chipper (not from them), the blades had faces instead of edges... and the hire shop had the cheek to ask how I knew it was ****ed. :?

Not being funny mate, but you would be better off getting someone in to do the conifers who knows what they are doing and has the kit already.

You could offer to labour, make a few quid yourself, keep your customers happy with quality work and potentially start a mutually beneficial arrangement with a local tree firm.

I do this with a few of the lads who do gardening in my area and it has always worked well.

Thats a good suggestion about trying to find a tree firm in the area who would be willing to work together, so will prob ring round a couple of companies this week.

I have the qualifications and used to work for a tree surgeon / landscaper but simply dont have enough of that kind of work to warrant spending thousands on a chipper and no space for a large trailer at the moment!

I know that gardeners have a bad name for bodging tree work and doing work without the right qualifications and / or equiptment (even ive seen them), however I pride myself on the quality of work I do and anything that I cant do (i.e any airial work) or anything im not sure about, I always recommend a local company that I believe will do a good job for the customer.
