An ibc is like a lighthouse to the great unwashed, if it’s static in the yard it’s better to go bundled with a lockable compartment for the pump/nozzle. There is a guy in Findon that just bought a shed load of ex hire bundled tanks in various sizes, these are already lockable with hand pumps etc already built in and he is selling them cheap. I will try and find a link.

We use an IBC and raise it on a crate of logs so no need for a pump

I'm surprised at you; gravity fed is deprecated because of the risk of a pipe failing or tap leaking. This is why bunded and pumped makes sense.

It sits over an improvised bund so if it did spring a leak all would be caught. Main tap is always turned off when not filling anyway

I thought bunded was a requirement, the drivers would refuse to fill anything else etc. So I bought 2300l one for red and 1300l one for white, £600 and £700. Driver came out, said nah mate, we'll fill whatever you want!

When I last looked several years ago it was part of the oil distributor's code of practice.

I feel better having it in bunded metal tanks rather than plastic IBC's however. I was having nightmares about sticking the forks through the IBC, and the tanks weren't exactly expensive second hand.

Not only forked but it has been known for a hot length of scaffold tube to be pushed through to fill a few cans and let the rest run away.
